This is a scenic and less travelled walk around Ebbor Gorge Mendips in Somerset – a few miles away from the Cathedral city of Wells. It take about 2 hours for the main route and an extra 30 minutes if you want to climb to the top of the Gorge.
You can either start off in the Ebbor Gorge car park (off Deerleep and clearly signposted) or park at Eastern at the bottom of the hill. There is also a good local pub a short walk from Eastern called The Westbury Inn that serves food.
Download the GPX for this route. It should work on most smart phones with a mapping app.
In this walk you will view Ebbor Gorge from a distance in a clearing, cross an old railway line and walk along the stream going through the gorge. Its a medium difficulty as you will be climbing up and down at a reasonable gradient. To climb to the top follow the signs when you are at the stream. There are two ways to ascend the gorge – steps and a gradual slope or a steeper rocky path.
